Real Ghost Encounters: Five Years Haunted After a Stone in Kapasia
The story I am sharing today belongs to nobody else. It is the most terrifying and real experience of my own life, and it has stayed with me as one of the real ghost encounters I will never forget. My name is Salesh. For safety, I am keeping my real name and my village’s name private. But our village is one of the biggest villages in Kapasia. My upazila is Kapasia, in Gazipur district. The incident happened five years ago, in 2021.
The Stone I Should Not Have Thrown
I was in class nine then. Everyone should remember that time, the Corona period. Houses in our rural areas share one feature. The homes of relatives are very close together. In my case too, the distance from our house to my grandfather’s house was not great. It would take two minutes on foot at most. But in those two minutes of road you have to pass two small old graveyards. That day was a dark evening. I was walking from our house toward my grandfather’s. Everything around was a little too quiet.
As I walked, my eyes suddenly fell on the roof of a new, half-built house beside the road. In the pitch dark, I saw a pitch-black shadow sitting on the edge of the roof. From a distance it looked just like a dog. I should say that I have a pet dog of my own, named Rocky. I thought it must be my Rocky, who had somehow climbed onto that roof. Quite naturally, I called to it. It did not move. The shadow stayed still. This time I called a bit louder. And just then my whole body went cold. The moment the call was heard, that black shape slowly turned its head on the roof and looked straight at me. And I saw two clear, blood-red eyes glowing in the pitch dark. A pitch-black body and those two blood-coloured eyes. It was looking straight at me. In a moment it felt as if a huge heavy stone had settled on me. A strange kind of hypnosis. In terrible fear, shaking, I picked up a clod of earth from the ground and threw it at the shadow. Today I understand. That was the biggest mistake of my life.
The moment the clod landed, that black shape on the roof suddenly took on a huge form. Its body seemed to double in a moment, and it leapt from the roof straight at me. And do you know what was most frightening? After looking into those red eyes, my whole body had become paralysed. I had lost the power to move even an inch. When it jumped on me, just before it landed on my body, it melted into the dark air somewhere. But at once I felt a terrible pain in my head. It felt as if someone was striking my head hard with a whole iron rod. My eyes were ready to burst into tears from the pain. But strangely, no blood was coming from my head. In the sharp pain I closed my eyes and sat down on the ground.
At the very next moment I opened my eyes. I saw a pure white figure standing right in front of me, like a white woman. My whole body was in terrible agony. Somehow I gathered all my strength, got up and ran toward my grandfather’s house. When I reached it, my grandfather saw my state and asked, “What happened? Why are you shaking like this?” I was in terrible fear, so I brushed it off and said, “Nothing, just like that.”
The Hujur’s Water
After that, to settle myself, I sat reading a book at the dining table on the outside veranda, but my mind would not settle. The surroundings felt heavy, with a strong unease inside me. I could not hold back any longer, so I moved the veranda curtain a little and looked again at the roof of that new house. It was still sitting there. But this time a strange change came. I felt no fear. Instead an extreme curiosity was working inside me. I wanted to see what it really was, how it had come here, why this invisible, otherworldly power was pulling me toward it. It felt as if I wanted to go out of the house and run toward that roof. At that very moment my grandfather came up behind me and gripped my hand hard. He is a very devout, God-fearing man. Looking into my eyes, he perhaps understood that something very bad was happening to me. At once he took me inside, held me firmly and, reciting Ayatul Kursi in a loud voice, began blowing over me. He scolded me, “Tell me the truth. What happened to you?”
My grandfather’s words gave me a little courage. In a shaking voice I began, “Grandfather, as I was coming, I saw something black on the roof of the house. It was black, with red eyes and…” I could not finish. Suddenly a terrible pain started in my head again. And I saw that white figure standing right in front of me, gripping my throat with her own two hands. I could not say anything. Seeing my state, my grandfather did not delay a moment. He began to recite duas loudly and quickly. He blew over my chest and head. By the power of my grandfather’s dua, the pressure on my throat slowly eased and I calmed down a little. When my grandfather and the aunties of the house asked me again, I did not dare tell the truth. In terrible fear I hid many things. I said only that much had happened, and nothing else. But in my heart I had hidden a lot of things in fear. Then I spent the rest of the night in terrible terror at my grandfather’s house with them.
In the morning, seeing my condition, my grandfather took me to a very well-known hujur (Islamic scholar) in Kapasia to get blessed water. The moment I went to the hujur, the way he looked at me and his worried gestures made it clear to me that he had sensed something supernatural. But unfortunately he did not give me any direct warning or tell me anything clearly then. He drew me close, recited dua and blew over me. Then he took the water bottle from my hand, went inside, filled it with water and brought it back. He said I should mix this water with my drinking water and use it when bathing. After that I kept to his word. Before I left, he told me some secret things and rules which, because he forbade it, I cannot reveal here. But they were mainly ways to live a normal life in this situation.
Because of the rules the hujur gave, from December 2021 until the month of Ramadan in 2022, I had no big trouble. Everything went on normally. But the peace did not last long.
The Woman in White
At the end of Ramadan, on the day before Eid, the night we call Chand Raat, that evening my nephew, named Piyal in this story, one year younger than me, and I went toward the Tek, the raised area on our side. There are some jungles in that direction. When we were coming back after our work, suddenly a very strong, sweet fragrance of jasmine came to my nose. In the heavy air all around, that smell felt strangely unnatural. I asked Piyal, “Hey, which flower do you smell?” Piyal said in surprise, “No? I don’t smell anything? What are you saying? Where would a flower smell come from in this jungle?” I thought maybe it was my own imagination. But the very next moment I noticed something like the broad end of a white sari pass in front of my eyes and go into the jungle in the blink of an eye. I looked closely and saw that someone in a white sari was sitting there in the jungle. I understood that this was the same figure as before, looking at me with a steady gaze. Suddenly, this time too, I felt no fear in my mind. I called to Piyal, “Look, Piyal, something white is looking at us there.” At first Piyal looked at me and could see nothing. Then I took his hand and pointed my finger straight at that figure. The moment I pointed, Piyal screamed in terror, “Run!” and ran away from there. Even if I wanted to, I could not run. My feet had sunk into the ground. I had no power to move an inch. Just then I noticed two pitch-black shapes rushing at tremendous speed past me toward that white figure. After seeing that, a hellish scene rose before my eyes. Those two black shapes seized the white figure with claws and began to bite it very savagely. At once, throughout the whole jungle, hundreds of birds began to cry harshly. It was as if all of nature was screaming. Slowly I lost consciousness. Everything around grew blurred. Before my eyes I saw the black shapes bite and bite until the white figure was completely gone into thin air. Then they turned and looked straight at me. It seemed they were making terrible signs or gestures at me with their mouths.
At that very critical moment, one of my kakas, whose house is right next to that jungle, was passing that way and shone a light at me. With the intensity of the light, I came back to my senses in a jolt. Seeing me standing there alone, he asked in surprise, “What are you doing here?” I was about to tell him the truth. But just then I saw a huge pure-white pigeon fly past before my eyes. It felt as if someone had clamped my mouth shut. I could not say anything more. Steadying myself, I somehow said, “I came with Piyal. He has gone away. I was standing here.” Kaka took me home. There I saw a strange thing. Everyone in the house was laughing and joking about me. In fact Piyal had run home and told everyone everything by then. That I had apparently seen a woman in a white sari in the jungle. What hurt most was when everyone began to troll me. “You see something white, do you?” Everyone burst out laughing. But I could not make anyone understand the indescribable mental state inside me. To hide my fear and terror, I was forced to laugh along with them. Even today, in 2026, they joke about it whenever they get the chance. To this day I have not told any of them the whole truth.

Letting Her In
Because one unchanging truth was shining in my mind. If I told anyone the depth of this incident, a very great loss would come. One thought was going round in my head: to be saved from this curse, I needed a very big and powerful hujur. When everyone in Kaka’s house was laughing at me, I made an extreme decision inside. The water of the Kapasia hujur no longer worked. I needed someone even stronger. But I did not know the rules of that supernatural world. I did not know that once contact is made with certain powers, if a wrong step is taken, even unknowingly, you pay for it all your life. And that very mistake I made in the middle of 2022. It was extremely hot. One day I suddenly fell very ill. My whole body was burning with high fever. That familiar, terrible pain in my head came back again. That night in the middle of the night I woke suddenly. The moment I woke I understood that I could not move an inch. It was a severe sleep paralysis, what we call bobay dhora. My whole body had locked. Only my eyes were open. At that moment, the familiar, strong, sweet fragrance of jasmine spread through the room. My eyes went to the window. In the faint light of the moon, I saw that pure white figure standing on the other side of the window. But this time her face was not calm or beautiful. Her white sari was torn to shreds. And right behind her, out of the darkness, had come that red-eyed, pitch-black figure. The white one was pleading with me to save her. She was saying, “Save me.”
In the delirium of a high fever, or caught in some strange compassion, I do not know to this day, I opened my door. She said to me, “Give me a little shelter.” That was the biggest mistake of my life. I did not know then that in this world, helping an unseen power means giving it permission to enter your own life, your own body. As soon as I thought those words in my mind, those two black figures let out a terrible silent scream and vanished into the dark. And that white figure passed straight through the closed window into my room. Before my eyes she slowly dissolved into the very wall of my room. In one jolt, the weakness left my body. I began to breathe hard. I thought it must have been a terrible dream I saw in the haze of fever, or a hallucination.
Five Years in Hell
But no. From the next morning, the real hell of my life began. After she took shelter in my room, she did not leave me alone for a single moment. At first I thought it was my imagination. But slowly her presence began to take a share of my real life. And whenever I sat at the table to study seriously or fell into deep thought about my career or future, suddenly the strong fragrance of jasmine spread through my whole room and the air went completely cold. I felt clearly that someone had come and stood right behind me. Sometimes it felt as if an unseen cold hand was gently stroking my back and my hair. It was not a pleasant feeling. It was suffocating mental torture.
The most frightening thing happens when I go to sleep. The moment I close my eyes, I feel that someone is kneeling on the floor right beside my cot, looking straight at my face. I am too afraid to open my eyes. Even with my eyes shut, my chest feels as if it will burst with fear. She has built a wall around me. She does not want me to be normal with my family. Or to hang out with my friends. Every time I try to return to normal life, she somehow brings back that terrible, iron-rod pain in my head. It feels as if she wants to cut me off completely from the world I know and trap me only in her own cage. Especially, as soon as evening comes, the atmosphere all around my house changes completely. Everything seems to buzz like crickets. A suffocating feeling. I cannot stay at home after dusk. After dusk a hideous story begins. It is like a sinner’s punishment, finishing me off bit by bit. Because of that, in the evening I put earphones in my ears and listen to songs. I cannot stay at home after dusk. Every evening when I go out, I notice a big white pigeon flying away over my head. Wherever I go, I see the pigeon again every little while. Then the pigeon becomes my daily companion. What does it want, why does it come? I do not know.
Now it is 2026. These things are still happening to me, but not as before. Now she sometimes comes in dreams at night. Whenever she comes in a dream, my breath stops. My family just dismisses these states of mine as bad shadows or me having seen wrong. And I cannot make them believe that these are true. I do not even have the courage left. Even now, when I go out at night, I sometimes see the white pigeon. But now I am not afraid. I do not get terrified. When fear mixes into a person’s life, it becomes a habit. In my case too, it is no different.
The Fight at the Pond
A few days ago my elder brother, my kaka and I went to a pond at the Tek to swim. The pond is quite big. But because it was summer, there was not much water. Throughout the pond the water was only thigh-deep on me. Even at the deepest place it came only to my neck. So we all went there to get in. My kaka and I were walking together. Suddenly my body shook again. After two long years, that same creeping feeling again. I saw that same white sari end fly past before my eyes. The moment I looked that way, I saw that pigeon tearing apart a figure that looked like four black pishach and killing it. They vanished. Seeing it, I ran that way to look. When I got there, there was nothing. Only blood stains. I came back and told my elder brother and the kakas everything. They listened to it all, believed some of it and made fun of some of it, but finally nobody took it seriously. After all that, when everyone got into the pond, I got in after them. But after going a little way into the pond, I noticed that I could not go forward any more. The pond was shallow, but I could not go ahead. Somehow I tried to turn back. I could not go there either. They were calling me from the middle, “Come here, come here.” But I could not go at all. When I tried to move forward, I felt that someone was gripping my feet tightly in the water. The moment I tried to tell them about it, my breath stopped. I began to sink. But the water was shallow. After fighting an unseen power under the water for ten long minutes, I somehow managed to reach them. Suddenly I saw that my brother and kakas had brought along a big floating foam sheet for swimming. I saw the black figure sitting on that foam. And it was chewing up the white pigeon. But none of those with me could see it. With great effort I went to them. Then I saw that the figure was gone. I think the foam was a groundsheet. I jumped up onto it. Just then the black figure suddenly came into my hands. In one jolt it broke the foam apart. It pushed me and threw me into the water. Everyone with me was thrown aside by the pressure of the water. The foam broke into three pieces. Then when we came back, we were standing in knee-deep water. They were all swimming in the water. Then I noticed that on my one brother and these two kakas, those black pishach figures were sitting. Sitting on them, they looked at me and began to laugh ugly, terrible laughs.
Since everything had started with a thrown stone, I thought I would end everything today with stones too. Otherwise they would not let me live. I lifted mud from the pond and began to throw clods at them again. And I followed some of the methods of that Kapasia hujur. Aiming at those three, I kept throwing clods of mud one after another. After a little while I saw that two of the figures had vanished. Only one big figure remained, rushing at me fiercely. Then I climbed up onto the bank of the pond. On the bank, facing west, with a chest full of courage, I again began to hurl clods of hard earth. After that, everything miraculously went calm. The pond became still. The darkness cleared from the sky. Only a strong scent of jasmine remained all around.
It has been eleven days now. Now there are no more bad dreams and no white pigeon. But every now and then that familiar scent of jasmine suddenly reaches my nose. It feels as if someone is watching me from far away in the emptiness. But that suffocating terror of before is no longer there.
This was the true story of my long five years of living hell and supernatural struggle.
