Real Ghost Stories from a Haunted Natore Road

October 14, 2026 Rasel

My grandparents’ home is in Natore, Rasel bhai. And my nani’s mother’s home, my Boro Ammu’s house, is in a village in Natore that everyone calls Sadhupara. I do not know its proper name. These are real ghost stories from the road to that village, and I will tell them the way I know them. My nani often visited her mother’s house there.

The Road to Sadhupara

One day, they were late getting back. My nani and nanu were walking home together. In those days the road was not good, with no proper transport. It was a dirt road, with fields of different crops on both sides. It was winter, and on both sides there was only sugarcane. On that road there were two places that were not good. People whose star signs are not favourable were said to be drawn there by evil forces or jinn if they passed through.

It was past ten at night, and my nanu and nani were walking along. There is a banyan tree there, and near the banyan tree a small bridge, with water running underneath. That water is let into the nearby fields. The place where the water comes in, Rasel bhai, was called the “deep ghor” in the village language of my nanu’s place. In the daytime nobody would notice anything odd about the deep ghor. At night it changes.

The Farmer Who Ploughed at Night

It was about ten o’clock. When my nani looked toward the deep ghor, she saw a man in a white singlet and a lungi ploughing a field beside it with oxen. She said to my nanu, “Ploughing at this hour of the night? Does this man have nothing better to do?” My nanu scolded her. “Don’t look that way,” he said. “Walk fast and recite dua. Let’s get home as quickly as we can, and I will tell you at home.” My nani went quiet at the scolding.

When they got home, my nani freshened up and said to my nanu, “I only asked you why that man was ploughing at that hour. Why did you scold me?” “Have you ever seen anyone plough a field at this hour of the night?” my nanu said. “That was a jinn.” My nani was very frightened. She did not ask anything more. She went to sleep that night.

The Banana Tree That Chased Him

Something also happened at the same place, Rasel bhai, to my mother’s maternal cousin, who is my uncle. He is no longer alive, he has passed away. His star sign was not good either. He was coming along the very same road, on his way to my nanu’s house. At the same banyan tree, near that small bridge, his feet suddenly began to feel strangely heavy as he walked. He was alone. Because his star sign was not good, he got a little scared. So he went forward reciting dua and durood in his heart.

Slowly he saw something ahead, a banana tree, and its leaves were swaying. But it was winter, Rasel bhai, and there was no question of wind. And what was stranger, the leaves of no other tree around were moving. Yet the branches of this little banana tree kept on moving without stopping.

He was now in a situation where he could not turn back and go home. He was almost near my nanu’s house. Without thinking, he broke into a run. And at that very moment the banana tree began to run behind him. I do not know whether my listeners will believe me. But this is exactly what happened to him. After that, the banana tree kept lashing him from behind with its leaves. By my uncle’s account, being hit with leaves should not hurt so much. He was running, and he was being hit hard from behind with the leaves, and it hurt the way it hurts when a person is beaten with a whip.

It was very late at night, almost past ten, and in a village, Rasel bhai, ten at night is very late. He came into my nanu’s village screaming. He came panting to my nanu’s house and called out to my nani, “Khala, Khala!” Everyone saw the state he was in. They brought him inside and sat him down, recited dua and durood, and gave him recited water to drink. Then my uncle told them what had happened. These real ghost encounters are the ones my family still talks about.

The Bridge Still Feels Heavy

And there is something else, Rasel bhai. Once I was coming along that road at night, because my mother’s maternal cousin-sister was getting married. When I reached that bridge, my own star sign is not very good either, I am Libra, my body automatically felt heavy as I came to that place. I did not see anything unusual, but I felt something. I do not know why it happens. Wherever something unusual is present, I can sense it. My body goes heavy, I am afraid at night, I have bad dreams. Even then, I felt that yes, someone was behind me. I do not know whether this is a hallucination, but this is what happens to me. Anyway, Rasel bhai, this was my story.
